St. Francis offers daycare programs for children, available across our five centres in Edmonton, Viking, and Grande Prairie, licensed under Alberta’s Early Learning and Child Care Act and follows the province’s Flight: Early Learning and Care Framework.

Infant Care
(12 to 18 Months)

Small-group care for babies just starting to explore the world. Our infant program runs at Belvedere, Viking, and Grande Prairie.
Days are built around feeding, sleeping, and one-on-one bonding, with sensory play, tummy time, and gentle social moments mixed in.
We follow Alberta’s 1:3 staff-to-infant ratio, the province’s strictest, so every baby receives attentive, individualized care.
Each centre has a dedicated infant room with cribs, change stations, and feeding areas separated from older children’s spaces.

12 – 18 months

Toddler Program
(18 Months to 3 Years)

📍 Belvedere, Viking, Grande Prairie
The toddler years are when language, friendships, and independence take off. Our toddler program is offered at Belvedere, Viking, and Grande Prairie.
Children practise toilet training, self-feeding, dressing, and the social give-and-take of early friendships.
Activities are play-based and include outdoor time every day, weather permitting. We follow Alberta’s 1:6 staff-to-child ratio for this age group.
Educators track language and motor milestones throughout the year and share progress with families during regular check-ins.
18 months – 3 years

Preschoolers
(3 to 4.5 Years)

Play-based learning becomes more structured. Our preschool program runs at Belvedere, Viking, and Grande Prairie.

Children explore letters, numbers, sorting, counting, basic science, and art, with social-skill building woven through every activity.

Group ratios meet Alberta’s 1:8 standard, and the curriculum follows Alberta’s Flight framework for early childhood development.

Educators document each child’s progress so parents can see exactly where their child is on the path to kindergarten readiness.

Kindergarten
(4.5 to 6 Years)

📍 Belvedere, Greenview, Viking, Grande Prairie

A full-day kindergarten program built around school readiness. Available at Belvedere, Greenview, Viking, and Grande Prairie.

We emphasize problem-solving, early reading, numeracy, and everyday activities familiar to first graders.
Group ratios follow Alberta’s 1:10 standard. Educators include staff with kindergarten-specific training, and the curriculum aligns with Alberta Education’s expectations.
Where helpful, we coordinate with local schools so children transition into Grade 1 with continuity in learning style and social skills.
4.5 – 6 years

Out-of-School Care
(Grade 1 and Up)

📍 All five centres
Before-school and after-school care for school-age children, plus full-day care on professional development days and school breaks. Available at all five St. Francis centres.
Children receive homework support, healthy snacks, structured activities, and free play in a safe, supervised setting.
We staff Alberta’s 1:15 ratio for school-age children, with educators trained in age-appropriate behaviour, supervision, and conflict resolution.
ℹ️ Please note: we do not provide transportation between schools and our centres. Families arrange drop-off and pickup directly.
Grade 1 and up

Not sure which program fits your child? The fastest way to choose is to visit one of our centres. Tours run year-round and take about 30 minutes. You are welcome to bring your child along to meet the educators.
